WELCOME TO ACTION4SEN

Action4SEN was originally set up in 2007 by a group of concerned parents of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) whose funding was under threat by Somerset County Council.

During 2007/08, meetings were held with Somerset County Council and the Schools Forum to discuss our concerns.

Then in May 2008, Action4SEN were invited by local MP Ian Liddell-Grainger to attend the All Party Conference on Dyslexia and Special Educational Needs in Parliament. Here we had the opportunity to discuss our concerns with the Minister for Education, Ed Balls.

Following this, a Government representative met with Somerset County Council in June and they hope that Somerset County Council's dialogue and consultation will continue with Action4SEN.

Further to this, our group has grown and our objectives have changed. We are now focusing on protecting the provision for our children with Special Educational Needs. This does not mean that we won't fight against SEN funding cuts, but it also allows us to concentrate on offering a support network for parents.
